2012 Republican Primary Shows GOP Not Concerned With Diversity

At the Sundance Film Festival, Spike Lee stated that as America becomes more diverse, it’s best for the entertainment business for being more diverse, as a way to capitalize on the dollars of various ethnic groups.

Lee stated that trump t shirts by 2045, America would no longer be majority-White and the current business structure in Hollywood can become antiquated inside the very near future.

The same can be said about American politics, but the 2012 Republican primary shows that the GOP is just not concerned about the America of tomorrow, simply with the results within the upcoming November election.

As America has grown to be more black and brown, the Republican Party is apparently stuck in neutral, oblivious on the changing times. Many African Americans and Latinos have exceeded the middle class and also have reached that affluency that will make the Republican Party a nice-looking choice for political affiliation.

Furthermore, the social values that Republicans preach fit with the upbringing of several African Americans and Latinos who are stereotypically devout Christians.

However, the rhetoric via candidates within the 2012 Republican primary, hardly represent the way forward for America and shows how away from touch candidates like Newt Gingrich are from mainstream America.

In 2007, Gingrich referred to the Spanish language as ghetto speak. He said, “The American people believe English should be the official language with the government? We should replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people can discover the common language with the country and they study the language of prosperity, not the text of living within the ghetto.”

For someone as accomplished as Gingrich, who may trump t shirts have probably attended every corner with the Earth in their travels, to equate a language other than English to ghetto speak will be the epitome of ignorance and stupidity, and not the type of rhetoric we need via a potential commander-in-chief.

Rick Santorum also allegedly made racially insensitive remarks about minorities in the current 2012 Republican primary. He allegedly stated, “I wouldn’t normally make Black people’s lives better giving them other people’s money.” If those statements are accurate, Santorum failed to mention that by raw numbers more Whites are on welfare than Blacks and that Black people are included in those “other people” who’ve to give their cash for government run programs like welfare.

Santorum took to say he did not say Black, as he rarely uses that word, preferring the word African American. He also touted his relationships with historically Black universites and colleges as evidence of his open-mindedness with regards to diversity.

Furthermore, Rick Perry, an early candidate in the 2012 Republican primary once leased out a hunting ranch named “Niggerhead” in Texas, but claims the signs with all the racial slur were painted over once his family began controlling the property.

Regardless, when the allegations of racism are a true indication from the character in the candidates, America is relocating a direction of more diversity and much less exclusion. Children mature today not caring what color their friends are. As a result, America will quickly be the melting pot a large number of have wanted for generations.

Nevertheless, the 2012 Republican primary is proof that many inside the GOP have never gotten the memo, which will cost them dearly in the future, if it does not cost them in November.
